WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER BOOKING

BRIDAL HAIR PREVIEW - 2 HRS $175

Please note that I have Monday - Thursday availability for previews.

If a Friday or Saturday is requested December - March, a $100 premium fee will be attached to the preview cost. Fridays and Saturdays are NOT available from April - November.

A preview is not included in the contract due to the fact that not every bride chooses/is able to schedule one, but they are highly recommended. They can be scheduled as early as you like but are typically scheduled 3-4 months out and it is also not uncommon to do it a day or two before the wedding if it’s the only chance we get!

If you’d like to schedule your makeup preview for the same day, I’ll be happy to coordinate with your makeup artist! Please note that I prefer to do hair after makeup for multiple reasons, some of which include avoiding hair clips after your style is complete - makeup being brushed into your hairline & wet setting sprays affecting your finished style!

*Previews are only available for the Bride(s)

Our preview time is very important 1:1 time!

PLEASE KEEP A FEW THINGS IN MIND WHEN LOOKING FOR INSPO PHOTOS:

Look for brides with a SIMILAR hair color, LENGTH and THICKNESS as your own. If you are looking at style with longer and/or thicker hair, please consider extensions.

Please come wearing something cut similar to your wedding dress (white if possible, tank tops are great as well because they show the most skin), rather than a t shirt, lounge or workout clothes. If you wear a shirt with a collar or a jacket, the collar may rub on your style after you leave and give you an inaccurate idea of how your hair will hold up.

If we aren’t coordinating with your makeup artist to do both previews in the same day…come with at least a little makeup if not a little more than you usually would so you can get a better idea of how you’ll look on your wedding day.

Your trial run is not only a chance for you to see a style or two on yourself… it’s also a chance for me to get familiar with your hair.

Depending on how your hair holds with different tools and products, I’ll be able to determine a plan for your wedding day style! This session is just as much for me to play around with those tools and products as it is to experiment with placement, partings, curl type, bun size, etc. Because of all of the extra touching, it’s also one of the reasons I don’t necessarily recommend planning your trial run on a day you have your engagement photos or shower. You’ll leave with a great idea of how you’ll expect a style or curl type to hold but sometimes (depending on your hair type and desired style) this session may be more of a planning event than a regular 45 min/1 hour up or down style you might expect for a different type of appointment!

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR HAIR PREP LEADING UP TO THE WEDDING

  • Hydrated hair helps calm frizz. Switch to a hydrating shampoo and conditioner (I like Pureology Hydrate) or try a hydrating hair mask to use once a week for a few weeks before your day.

  • Everyone should arrive with clean, blown dry hair (A Volumizing Mousse in the root area is preferred, I like Aquage Uplifting Foam for most hair types).

  • If any of your guests will be wearing their hair naturally curly, please let them know to allow enough time for hair to be fully dry before their appointment time.

  • Please advise them NOT come with dirty or greasy hair! The products we use will be that ‘dirt and grit’ needed for the foundation of their style. PLEASE ALSO ASK YOUR GUESTS TO COMB THEIR HAIR BEFORE THEIR APPOINTMENT.

  • Any guest with wet or damp hair will be charged the cost of a blowdry ($40), require additional time for their appointed time slot and WILL extend our finish time.

If any guest has longer or thicker than average hair, we need to include extra time. Ask your guests to have an idea of the style they like before hand so we have a starting point which will help with our timing as well. Details can be discussed on an individual basis so your party will be personally considered in planning!

Shorter hair (above the chin): Please come with hair free of any product… a volumizing mousse with your blow dry is GREAT but anything else can potentially react with the styling process and put us in a (literal) sticky situation.

  • Let me know of any allergies or sensitivities you or your guests have!

GETTING READY OUTFITS

If you are planning on purchasing outfits for you and your Bridesmaids to get ready in… my advice is to look for styles WITHOUT collars and that have a smooth or satiny texture. Tops with collars and fabrics with texture (flannel, seersucker, etc.) will rub on curls or lower upstyles and cause your hair to rub and potentially fall before it’s even time to get in your dresses!

Veil Placement

If you’re ready to have your veil added during our scheduled time together, I will be happy to place your veil! Most veils are pretty straight forward and I can show whomever you’d like where and how it should be placed in the event it needs to be placed later on or at a different location. I will also make sure your hairstyle has the right foundation for it and set you up so you’ll be confident it’s secure. Most of the time the veil slides in and out extremely easily, bobby pins are not usually necessary but we can cover that on an individual basis.

Please be aware of what type of comb your veil has (this also goes for other hair pieces as well as flowers and flower crowns). If it’s a bulky or plastic comb, bobby pins may not be enough to secure the piece by themselves so it’s best if we discuss options ahead of time. This is also something to consider if you’d like to wear your veil underneath your style rather than above it.

FINAL PAYMENT

Approximately 30 days before your wedding day I will send out an invoice with final totals and a few instructions that are specific to you and your guests regarding hair prep so you’ll know what to expect when we get there! At that time any extension rental, parking cost, and added guests will be assessed and added to your Final Invoice due 14 days in advance of your wedding date.
