Wedding Day

Tips & Hair Prep

Product Recommendations

Pureology Hydrate Shampoo & Conditioner (not the sheer).

For Blowdrying - A Volumizing Mousse such as Aquage Uplifting Foam or Moroccanoil Volumizing Mousse in the roots to mid lengths & Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream for the mid lengths and ends.

For very frizzy hair, I like the Moroccanoil Frizz Shield Spray but if you have a tried and true product you love, please feel free to use it!

I highly recommend trying these products out before wedding day so you know how much to use and how they work with your hair!

FOR THE BRIDE

I will give you personalized Day Of instructions but here are a few helpful tips to help you be prepared for your wedding morning!

  • We’ll plan to do your hair ~2nd to last (depending on when you’ll be having your makeup done). We won’t plan to have you go last unless we have a specific reason to do so. That way you don’t feel as rushed, have time to have a bite to eat, brush your teeth, etc. before it’s time for gathering your details, group photos or getting into your dress.

  • Hydrated hair is our best bet for resisting humidity. Get your hair trimmed regularly to keep your ends healthy so your style doesn’t look rough with split ends. We’ll go over details on this at your trial but keep this in mind to begin as soon as possible. I recommend Pureology Hydrate Shampoo & Conditioner for just about every hair type & climate! Moroccan Oil makes a Hydrating Styling Cream that is fantastic to add in before your blowdry.

  • When choosing/advising ‘Getting Ready’ outfits for you and your guests… please keep in mind that collars and certain fabrics will rub on low buns and down styles causing them to fall out! Ask for more details on this topic and I’ll happily give you my opinion!

    Veil Placement

If you’re ready to have your veil added during our scheduled time together, I will be happy to place your veil! Most veils are pretty straight forward and I can show whomever you’d like where and how it should be placed in the event it needs to be placed later on or at a different location. I will also make sure your hairstyle has the right foundation for it and set you up so you’ll be confident it’s secure. Most of the time the veil slides in and out extremely easily, bobby pins are not usually necessary but we can cover that on an individual basis.

Please be aware of what type of comb your veil has (this also goes for other hair pieces as well as flowers and flower crowns). If it’s a bulky or plastic comb, bobby pins may not be enough to secure the piece by themselves so it’s best if we discuss options ahead of time. This is also something to consider if you’d like to wear your veil underneath your style rather than above it.

For your guests:

Have them visit Pinterest, my Instagram and even this page when searching for inspo. Here’s a few tips to steer them in the right direction!

GUESTS

  • Arrive with CLEAN, blown dry hair (As smooth as you can possiblly get it without flat ironing!) If you arrive with damp, air dried OR frizzy hair… it will potentially take longer than 45 minutes to prep and style your hair.

  • Our products are the ‘dirt’ & texture we need to make your style hold! WE DO NOT PREFER bedhead, unbrushed or even slightly oily hair! It will react poorly with heat & product, can potentially ruin our tools for next guests and… it is also quite yucky for us.

  • Look for photos that have similar hair color & texture to your own (Blonde hair highlights texture & braids differently than darker shades do).

  • If your hair doesn’t hold a curl very well, it may take extra steps to try and make it hold which takes extra time.

  • If your hair doesn’t hold a curl very well and you insist on having it down or half-up and it falls (remember this could be ~5/6 hours of having your hair styled before you even walk down the aisle) we will not have extra time to re-curl your hair.

  • It’s a really good idea to have an up option even if your first choice is a down/half-up style. Depending on weather, hair type, timing… down & half-up styles may take longer than upstyles. This is due to the steps it takes to get a down style to hold on soft, fine or straight hair, on a hot or humid day, etc.

  • If you have thicker/longer hair than average, unruly hair that you absolutely cannot tame yourself, etc. Please ask the bride or reach out to me via email and we can create a plan and/or schedule extra time for you!!

  • I want you to be extremely happy with your hair and have it hold & look fabulous the entire day so help set us both up for success by choosing realistic inspo photos. Lots of styles you come across may have multiple packs of extensions or take hours to accomplish so keep that in mind when browsing Pinterest! On that note, if you have extensions you’d like to wear, please let me know ahead of time and we will schedule an extra 15 minutes. Adding clip in extensions for a guest is a $40 add on service.

    MOMS

  • MOBs, MIL’s, Grandmothers, Aunts, etc. Please arrive with clean hair (or possibly damp if hair is very short), a few inspo photos AND a photo of YOURSELF where you like your hair so we can have an everyday reference of how you typically look!

  • MOBs, MIL’s, Please do not plan to run around outside setting up tables and chairs, etc. after having your hair done! We will not have time to re-do your hair!
