In the beginning

I just passed my first year anniversary as CRC Mountain Beauty, LLC so I thought this would be a great opportunity to break into my blog!

Although I’ve been a part of the wedding industry in Colorado for 13 years, I have recently rebranded and now I will explain a little bit about what that looks like.

I moved to Vail from Chicago in 2008, my official title at the salon I worked at was ‘colorist’ but since the salons in Colorado don’t separate cut/color departments like they did where I came from, I had to get creative.  I had always been interested in hairstyling. I assisted an incredible updo artist during my internship at Trio Salons and I really wanted to be someone who did hair for beautiful brides, magazine photo shoots and runway shows.   Colorists don’t typically do hairstyling (some didn’t even do their own blowdries).  Now that I was all on my own, I needed to work out a way to be the combination of both of the things I loved in the hair world and make it happen!

As it turned out, Vail was a very popular wedding destination and I partnered up with a cozy little spa in Lionshead Village called ‘Spatique’ and started offering bridal hairstyling.  All of a sudden I was a wedding hairstylist and I was thrilled! Since I had no official home, I traveled to hotel rooms, houses and venues to style my brides and their bridal parties with everything I needed in one suitcase. I moved to Summit County in 2010 and founded Weemala, a mobile wedding hair and makeup company. I passed it on a couple of years later to a makeup artist I worked with, Jessica Taylor, and continued to work with the company until I left for the East coast in 2016.

Fast forward to the Fall of 2018 and I was back in CO and back doing weddings in the mountains with Weemala. At the beginning of 2020 I created a solo venture and although I still work with Jessica from time to time, I’m on my own and have expanded my travel range (ask me where I won’t go :)

In the last few years I’ve been super inspired to broaden the circle of photographers, florists and planners that I work with, push creativity in my hairstyling and see what blossoms!  It’s a little scary branching out from the cozy nest I came from but I couldn’t be more excited!

That’s a little back story for you in case you’re wondering where I came from… stay tuned to see where it takes me!
